Stockbridge Reserve - A Snipe still feeding opposite hide but Moorhen keeps bothering it. Quiet morning with a few Reed Bunting, Fieldfare & nice to see a Goldcrest which is not a regular here. Cormorant flew down river plus Goosander.

An enjoyable walk with stunning autumnal colours, and there was plenty of bird activity including a Blackcap and a Kingfisher on the river at Hirst Wood.

Strid Woods - from Cavendish Pavillion up river to Strid, 45 Mandarin. Above Strid to aquaduct, another 25 birds. With the woods full of acorns, is this count of 70 going to be beaten? Also seen by one of the observers, a single Brambling near Cavendish. (Better luck next time Malcolm!)

Yesterday
Kingfishers - today I had three showing very well along the canal: Two near Crossflatts and one between the Three and Five-Rise Locks.
Also seen were 9 Redwing near Five Rise Locks.
Some nice flocks of House Sparrows also along the canal especially near Micklethwaite Mill.
